Hunt in Rise with a 6DOF camera.

Needs a gamepad. No motion-controller gameplay: you hold a controller (or use keyboard and mouse) and look around with your head.

The catch: README lists motion controls only for RE2, RE3, RE7 and RE8, so this game is head-tracked 6DOF with gamepad or keyboard; I found no hands-on review.

Get Monster Hunter Rise running

Steps are general until you ; then the runtime step matches your headset.

  1. Set your VR runtime

Pick your OpenXR runtime: the Meta Horizon Link app for Link or Air Link, Virtual Desktop's VDXR for Virtual Desktop, or SteamVR for Index, Beyond and Pico. The creator supports SteamVR too; if a later step says "start SteamVR or your VR runtime", this runtime is enough and you can skip SteamVR.

  2. Install Monster Hunter Rise (Steam)

Install it and launch it once in flat mode to finish first-time setup, then quit.

  3. Have these ready

SteamVR, or an OpenXR-supported headset · DirectX 11 or 12 (per README) · REFramework zip extracted into the game folder

  4. Creator step 1

Install SteamVR (not needed for OpenXR on a supported headset)

  8. Creator step 5

See the wiki VR Troubleshooting/FAQ if it crashes at VR startup

  9. First launch in VR

Put the headset on, then start Monster Hunter Rise the way the creator's guide says. Calibrate your height in the first area.

Stuck?

Nightly release notes say old non-RT builds of RE2, RE3 and RE7 are not supported by the current monolithic build

Reported on the creator's page or the linked sources. Known issue

Extracting the full zip without a headset can destabilise the game and cost anti-aliasing; use only dinput8.dll for flat play

Black screen in the headset

This mod uses OpenXR. Check the active OpenXR runtime matches how you connect (the Set your VR runtime step), then start Link or Virtual Desktop before the game. General tip from us

Controllers don't show up

Start Link, Virtual Desktop or SteamVR before the game, and make sure the controllers are awake before launch. General tip from us

Stutter or low frame rate

Lower the in-game resolution or render scale first, then shadows and volumetrics. Close overlays you don't need. General tip from us

The mod didn't load at all

Recheck the game version against the creator's page; a game update is the most common cause. Then reinstall the mod files. General tip from us
